Custom LEGO City Update #3 – This time, it’s a bigger city!

August 5, 2018 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 3 minutes

My 3rd Custom LEGO City update came from my excitement at the new layout!

When I finished LEGO City Update #2, I signed off by saying it would be the last time you would see it looking like that. And, being a man of my word, it no longer does! I’ve added not just one, but two tables. The second was unused and perfect for a train yard for my growing LEGO train collection.

You see that the city layout now revolves around a couple of streets which will give me a lot more space for some of those fabulous LEGO Creator Expert sets. The Parisian Restaurant (set 10243) is now seated next to the Detectives Office (set 10246).

As for the LEGO City Hospital (set 60204), I’ve moved it to a new spot away from the creator sets. I think that is a better setting within LEGO City and increases play value and space. But, I’m not 100% on having it there. I think that might also be down to the fact I haven’t done all the landscaping and expansions I was planning to do. So I’d best get on with that particular MOC build sharpish! You can watch my review of the LEGO City Hospital Set 60204 here

I’ve also made sure to leave some space for a raised area at the back of the city for some smaller modular buildings like the 2018 Sweet Shop, set 31077.

And don’t worry, my trains get lots of attention! Two-thirds of the train track is now double – and even triple – lines. This means I can run my LEGO City Passenger Train 60197 (which is undergoing a LEGO Moc upgrade, but you can see my Set 60197 Full Review) and Cargo Train 60052 without fear of them colliding (LEGO 60052 unboxing video).

I’ve even left a nice big space for a two platform station – based on the 2018 LEGO Hogwarts Express station? On the note, I cannot wait to have the Hogwarts Express 75955 zooming around the city – after some power function alterations, obviously!

You’ll also notice that my recent Creator Lighthouse Point (set 31051) build has been given a home in the upcoming harbour area – here’s my build of LEGO Set 31051)

There’s a lot more coming to the water area including the LEGO Harbour (set 4645). I’m also hoping that I can squeeze the amazing Ninjago Destiny Bounty in there too!

I’ve got plans for a few Mocs including a modern take on LEGO Set 6394 (from 1988!). That would be built using the service station (set 60132) as the base.

For good measure, I’ve also included a space for JC – of Small Brick City – LEGO Ideas submission, Gastro Alley.

You’ve probably guessed how happy I am with what expanding the area for my Custom LEGO City! I think my LEGO City is in a great place for some big expansions! Now to find the time to get on and create it.

Let me tell you, I cannot wait to share more soon!

I hope you enjoy this City Update! If you think I should improve or change anything, please be sure to write a comment!
