LEGO Hogwarts Express Step by Step Upgrade (set 75955)

December 22, 2018 By GJBricks 6 Comments

Reading Time: 2 minutes

This is a requested video show step-by-step how I motorized the LEGO Hogwarts Express Train and includes a Studsburg 3.0 sneak peek!

I’ve made this video as a few people have asked me for the parts list to upgrade the Hogwarts Express that I showed in my previous video.

Here’s that LEGO Parts List for you to download and import to Bricklink. And I have a Bricklink Support video on importing parts lists.

Note: in the video, I used a Minifigure base, but in the parts list, I’ve swapped that for a studded 1×4 tile, but that’s up to you to decide.

Now, in my original video, I had used grey pieces as I hadn’t yet ordered the red and black bits I needed. This has now been rectified thanks to my last BrickLink order.

Some Tips

I’ll show you the things you need to know, build it up at a high speed in HD. This means you can pause each frame and see exactly what I did in it.

Overall, I am very, very happy with the end result. This new tender – the mark 3 as I’m calling it – is rock solid and will hopefully work well for anyone that builds it!

There are some optional bits like the coal I’ve put on top. Seen other people do this and think it really adds to the look. You may also want to fill the gap into the left of where the cable is. Again, up to you. This is just my suggestions.

Let me know what you think of this build along with any suggestions when you’ve finished watching the video and don’t forget to like it on YouTube!

And if you haven’t already, hit the subscribe button and turn on the “bell” to get the latest updates and see what I’ve been up to!

Hey there, I’m new to Lego modding and was just opening an account on BrickLink in order to upload your parts list for this project. The BrickLink site gave me an error stating they only support BSX, LDR, LXF, and IO files. Do you know if you happen to have your parts list for this project in one of the supported BrickLink file types?

      Hi,

it’s an odd one and I’m about to do a video on it as I’ve had some questions. Their system doesn’t just let you load the file.

      – You first need to copy the contents of the file
      – then go to Bricklink
      – in the wanted menu in the top right, select upload
      – then on the next screen, select the 2nd tab “Upload BrickLink XML format”
      – paste the contents in there
      – select the list you want to import it into

I have no idea why they don’t support uploading the file they exported.

      Hope that helps

      Hi Steph,

What issue are you having? I just tested the link in this post and it can be downloaded. If you’re having trouble importing it to Bricklink, I did a support video as they don’t make it easy! That is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0DcsaJ_Who
