LEGO 2019 Ninjago Summer Sets Revealed! My thoughts and Pics

April 20, 2019 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 3 minutes

LEGO 2019 Ninjago Summer Sets Revealed! My thoughts and Pics of the sets coming up. It’s a good line up of vehicles and playsets. I’m especially fond of the mech! And there’s another Dragon!!!!

First up is Lloyd’s Titan Mech (70676) which is a great looking beast! It has a very iconic style using some outstanding LEGO design techniques to create something very unique. I especially like the detachable flyer on the back which reminds me of Jay’s Flyer in the LEGO Ninjago Movie.

Next is the Castle of the Forsaken Emperor (70678). This is the biggest set in the lineup and features a cool looking Ice Dragon. There’s a lot of playability crammed into this LEGO Playset and the Emperor’s thrown looks pretty cool!

Lloyd’s Journey (70671) is the smallest set in the lineup and includes a 3 tail Wolf – this LEGO set is worth it just for that in my books. Looks like a fun little playset!

Cole’s Dirt Bike (70672) is a ferocious looking bike that reminds me of the Conveyex from the recent LEGO Star Wars Solo lineup. This is armed to the hilt and looks amazing!

ShuriCopter 70673 – or the shuriken-copter if you will – is yet another twist on LEGO helicopters. And I think a good one! Blending Apache design with jet fighter speed and futuristic stealth and speed, this is a great looking set!

Fire Fang (70674) is the one I’m honestly on the fence about. I think it might be better than it looks in the photos but we won’t know till we have the LEGO model in our hands for sure. It comes with some great minifigures though, and I love the Stargate SG-1 design they have – I’m a big fan so this set is almost worth it just for that!

Katana 4×4 (70675) is the car of the lineup and I feel is reminiscent of the recent LEGO Batman Movie Batmobile. It’s got another great selection of minifigures and some reasonable play features. I’m honestly hoping there’s a bit more to wheels like suspension or adjustability.

And finally Land Bounty (70677). As the name suggests, a land going version of Destiny’s Bounty. This one is packed with features, a fully detailed interior and a detachable barge which reminds me of the original small Destiny’s Bounty design. This is a great LEGO set in my books!

So that’s the line-up of sets. It’s got a good variety and scale of price. But most of all, it really builds on the already awesome Ninjago style and Lore.

LEGO Haul #4 from BrickLink and PAB

April 17, 2019 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

LEGO Haul #4 from BrickLink and PAB! I may have a LEGO parts addiction. I’ve been filling my parts bins with parts I need, never seem to have or will help my planned LEGO Mocs. And then there’s the LEGO Store Pick A Brick wall…

I’d originally set out to order some more sig-fig parts and some LEGO bricks I needed. Then as I explored and found some bricks I needed in colours I love. Then a tree. Some rocks (I have a policy that if any BrickLink store I’m buying from has the big LEGO Rock parts, I buy them). Some stairs for the bridge at my LEGO Train station. Some columns to use in Mocs for the Ninjago District.

And before you know it you have 3 BrickLink orders on the way! Eek! But I do have some really cool parts and enough stuff to keep me building for months (in theory till I drift on there again for more LEGO goodies – which I have already).

I mustn’t forget one important part of this haul… Parts for the new GJBricks LEGO Brick Built Logo! You can see it in more detail on my Instagram channel: https://www.instagram.com/p/BwEzIABJXB1/

Not to mention that evil temptress that is the LEGO Store Pick A Brick Wall! So many beautiful colours… Such useful parts! And if you can get the big cup filled correctly, simple sensational value!

Let me know what you think along with suggestions when you’ve finished watching the video and don’t forget to like it!

And if you haven’t already, hit the subscribe button and turn on the “bell” to get the latest updates and see what I’ve been up to!

LEGO Birthday Haul! They didn’t listen!

April 3, 2019 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

LEGO BIRTHDAY HAUL! THEY DIDN’T LISTEN! So yeah, it’s my birthday already. It seems like just a year ago I was in the London LEGO Store. Wait… It was. So I told my family not to get me LEGO. Did they listen?

Well, my wife did and got me practical things I need. My kids, on the other hand, would only settle for LEGO! I cannot complain as I love them dearly as they already know me so well!

The first set is kind of funny as I’m from London and that is the mini LEGO LONDON BUS – 40220. What a fun little set! I’m going to be saving that for a Marvellous Monday Mini Build.

Next up is one from my childhood. A Show I loved, had the game on My Atari ST and I will be hunting for it on my online services to introduce my kids to it. And that is of course, the new LEGO Ideas Flinstones (set 21316). What a beauty! And shows just how well my family knows me! That will be finding a home in the new Studsburg Residential area which you can see in this LEGO City Update video:

Marvellous Monday Mini Build – LEGO Creator Drone Explorer (31071)

Marvellous Monday Mini Build – LEGO Creator Drone Explorer (31071). I hope your Monday started as well as mine. I’m aiming to have it finish on a high note with a quick LEGO build with friends!

This is a smaller LEGO creator set, but that doesn’t make it a mighty build. I picked this set up for $9 at my local Kmart and I think that is a bargain for what the set includes.

It does remind me of the ships from the movie Oblivion. It’s one I’ve had my eye on for a while so this is the perfect venue for this great little LEGO Creator set!

Join me as I build this sub $15 LEGO Set and talk you through some of the history and thoughts I have on this set.
