LEGO City Passenger Train Double Decker Carriage MOC (60197)

I’ve worked on the LEGO City Passenger train 60197 from 2019 a few times, but I’ve always wanted to add a double-decker carriage to it. In this video, I’ll show my take on the design. I confess, this is my 3rd attempt at doing this and I’ve got the parts I like to do it. I even built my own carriage chassis as I didn’t like the look and size of LEGO’s moulded pieces.

Why has it taken me this many attempts to do it? That’s a good question. I’ve never been happy with how it looked using the parts I have. I would really have loved to do a design like the original Metroliner design – that was cool! But the carriage sizes didn’t work and, tbh, the design just didn’t work with the look of the 60197 train.

With this design, it sings of the Canadian trains that run through the Rocky Mountains. The lucky minifigures travelling on the upper deck in Captain’s chairs will get to see everything going on around as they fly through a LEGO City’s scenery taking in cities, towns, mountains and theme parks!

As you know I’ve done other work on this train, including adding Jacob’s bogies. And I plan to do one more set of work customising this fabulous – in my opinion – LEGO City train.

But I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments below! And be sure to share it if you enjoy it!
