In this LEGO City update, I’m going to focus on building the train tunnels just before the Train Station I showed in the last video. My goal was to give myself more space to add scenery, but also to make something a lot more interesting than just the usual straight train tunnel that’s easy to build. Hint: This was not an easy LEGO build and required some techniques I haven’t done before!

About this video
Why build portals? It’s something that’s always fascinated me. The idea of a wormhole or gateway to another dimension. And I think the original 1994 Stargate movie captured this beautifully!
The first LEGO Portal moc is an evolution of my original forest portal LEGO moc. But for this one, I wanted to do something a bit different and thought what if the portal had run into disrepair? So this features an overgrown scene with flowers, plants and vines that have taken over the portal causing barriers to fall and panels to fall off the portal. There’s even the helmet from a fallen traveller. Could the DOOM guy have visited?
For the second portal, I wanted to build something I could use in my LEGO City and I’ve had plans to build a Ninjago area for a while. So this has an Asian feel with a Japanese restaurant and a bright red torii leading to the lantern lines stairs that take you up to the portal itself.
And finally, the one I might be proudest of – although I love them all – is one based on one of my favourite games, Portal 2. That is set in the Aperture laboratories which have fallen into disarray since the fall of GLaDOS. I tried to capture some key features with the fallen tiles, half-built walls, and test buttons with their lines telling you how to activate them. An eerie white camera is watching you and recording what you do in the test. And just to finish the whole scene off, GLaDOS herself is lying on the floor with Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker from the muppets trying to repair her. What could possibly go wrong?
I really enjoyed making these and I’d love to know your thoughts on them. And also if you’d like me to show you how they are made!

LEGO CITY UPDATE: a LEGO Train Tunnel on a curve? Technically challenging!
In this custom LEGO City update, I’m going to focus on building the train tunnels just before the Train Station I showed in the last video. My goal was to give myself more space to add scenery, but also to make something a lot more interesting than just the usual straight train tunnel that’s easy to build. Hint: This was not an easy LEGO build and required some techniques I haven’t done before!
I’ve also been sure to add in lots of details such as a train signal, a small pond, lots of plants, and some pallets that have been abandoned.
