LEGO Lighting kit for Statue of Liberty 21042 review

I love the LEGO Architecture Statue of Liberty (21042) but adding this awesome LEGO lighting kit from Game of Bricks really transformed it for the better! Hear my thoughts on this install and how it looks. Be sure to check out the links below if you like what you see!

This is the second Game of Bricks Lighting Kit, with my first being the Downtown Diner set. You can see my thoughts on that in this post and on my YouTube LEGO channel. They say practice makes things easier, although I think this was a slightly more straightforward installation. What makes this one easier, in particular, is the way that the LEGO Architecture set has a hollow core to run the cables through. Once the lights were installed and you turn it on for the first time, your jaw drops at how much this set is transformed! It really is like something out of a movie!

But it can’t all be positive, and one thing I didn’t like though, and I think this is unavoidable, is the use of some sticky patches on some lights. Tbh, they are mostly out of sight on the lower lights or behind the mid-level tiles. The only really obvious one was the one above the face, which I opted to replace with a tiny bit of Blu-Tak. Worked a charm!

And one thing to note is that you have to dismantle a lot of the set to install the lights. Right the way down to removing the whole model from the base. It would almost be easier to install the lights as you build the set. And as you get more lights installed, it gets harder to feed the delicate cables through. My tip is to weight the end of the plug and lower it through – I did this using two 1×2 LEGO plates and pinning the cable between them.

Overall score and Where to Buy

My scores for this Lighting kit are:

Value: 5 out of 5 – it is a great price and sometimes on sale
Installation: 4 out of 5 – you have to dismantle the set in layers but easy to re-assemble
Overall: 5 out of 5 – Value, ease and the result is just amazing!
