Official LEGO Store Coming to Sydney! [Update 2]

February 13, 2019 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Photos have started to appear today of the vinyl covers for a new store in the Bondi Junction Westfield. No less than an official LEGO Store!

Details are sparse and all speculative, but it’s suggested that it could be opening as soon as March. This comes hot on the heels of the recently opened store at Syndey’s Domestic Airport.

Interestingly, the cover says “Sydney’s First LEGO Store” but technically it is the 2nd one if you count the domestic airport one – just sayin’.

What we don’t know is if it will be a discovery centre style one as they have in Melbourne, or if it is an Official LEGO Store only selling the product – I’m thinking the latter, but I’ll tell you why in a moment.

But it does come after LEGO recently opened a warehouse here in Australia finally – which meant better shipping time for us as it used to come from Europe. Interestingly, LEGO did tell me in a tweet “The Australia/New Zealand warehouse was the first of many great steps forward!”

The Australia/New Zealand warehouse was the first of many great steps forward! 💪 We’re always looking where we can open a new LEGO Store, and Sydney might just be the next one. We can’t say anything yet, so please keep an eye on our website. 😃

So it sounds like we here in Australia are getting the attention we were hoping for! And if I’m reading it correctly, this is the first 100% LEGO owned store here in Australia!

Update

LEGO Have officially announced it on their Facebook page, but no date confirmed yet. Maybe the same time as the LEGO Movie 2 opens here in Australia?

 Update 2

Bricking Around has the official LEGO store Sydney press release and confirmed a few more details.

It seems it’s a LEGO certified store, but not run by LEGO which would mean no VIP points for purchases. But it will have a pick-a-Brick wall, hooray!

Its also a two storey building with 302 m2 of floor space which means it should have an impressive range. That puts it in the same league as the flagship LEGO store in London’s Leicester Square.

Thanks for reading

Let me know in the comments what do you think of an official LEGO Store opening in Sydney! I for one cannot wait to hit that pick-a-brick wall!
