Sometimes the most uniquely futuristic vehicles come from the past. This is the prototype Lartigue Monorail system that ran from 1888 to 1924. And has been perfectly realised by Flickr user Alexander.
I have a soft spot for Welsh Trains with my dad and me being massive fans of the Ffestiniog railway. For those that don’t know, it’s a classic narrow-gauge railway that has been restored.
The Lartigue Monorail is not an easy train to build in LEGO. If you check out the original, it sits on a single triangular rail. The way Alexander has packed the motor and battery and into the cars so that they don’t interfere with the track is a great bit of LEGO Train engineering.
Be sure to check out these majestic builds in his OctTRAINber 2018. And maybe they’ll inspire you to go and check out the still running – all-be-it in diesel form – replica.
