Studsburg Custom LEGO City Update #5 – The trains are coming in force!

October 19, 2018 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 3 minutes

So we’ve moved house, I’ve unpacked some of the boxes, but most importantly my LEGO City! And, I think I’ve nailed building my new layout built around the trains. Read on intrepid builder!

You may recall, my last update was about my city is in Chaos. Well, now it’s still in chaos, but there is a new order coming to life! A new order all about the wonderful world of LEGO Trains!

Ok. Ok. Enough waffle. This last week, I set up the tables as I’d had in my mind. The effect is a table on three sides of the room, with a central area that will become a harbour region. There’s room to add one more table at a later time. I wanted to make this new LEGO City update be based around my love of trains, so here goes.

[yourchannel user=”GJBricks” video=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDSZt6ks8-E”]

Working around the tables, on the left will be the city building area. This area will be expanded to have an extra table. This is where the bulk of my LEGO Creator Expert and city sets will be built up. I’m planning to raise the back area of it for smaller – and maybe bigger – buildings. They’ll also be areas for the LEGO Minifigures to enjoy themselves. Long-term, I’m planning a raised track as well, but not sure if that will be monorail or train version.

The back table is going to be the LEGO equivalent of Grand Central, or perhaps Kings Cross? That way I can make good use of the station included in the new LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express (75955). They’ll be supporting buildings like restaurants, taxi ranks, parks, vendors, etc around it too.

On the right are the cargo yard and train depot. This is where cargo will get moved around by the LEGO Gantry Crane – currently the one from the LEGO 60052 train set. There’ll be lots of train buildings, sheds, a workshop and more!

For to the last table, where the biggest building is going to be done. This is planned to be built up and feature a Jurassic Park/World theme park on one end. This will be using the 2016 and 2018 Jurassic World sets staggered in the hillside for the tourists to be eaten by.

And then at the end of that table will be a Ninjago themed village/temple built around the fabulous LEGO Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu (70751) as well as the Ninjago City and Docks. The vision is to start with the temple at the top and build a village around it coming down the mountain, following a stream. The stream will then come down to meet the City and Dock that will be sitting in the harbour area – which will be the area in the middle.

I’m hoping you are as excited as I am by this plan! Now to start ordering the thousands of bricks I’ll need to build all of this!

I’d love to know your thoughts on this maybe crazy plan! So like, comment, suggest and share away!
