MOTORIZED HOGWARTS EXPRESS LEGO TRAIN WITH NEW POWERED UP SYSTEM! How to motorize the 75955 with the latest LEGO Train system!

The Hogwarts Express has landed and people have already motorized it with the previous LEGO Power Functions IR System. I wanted to use the newer Bluetooth system. But why?

First off I like how easy Bluetooth is to use. You press one button and it connects to the controller. But the good part is that that controller can be the one that comes with sets like the 60197 LEGO City Passenger Train from 2018 (watch my review).

Secondly, it’s really, really compact because all the circuitry is in the power block. Everything. So no need for external receivers, cables everywhere, etc. All you need is the battery block and the motor as you’ll see in the video.

Connectivity Issues? Nope!

I have read a few stories of people having trouble with the Bluetooth system dropping out. I have not experienced this. But, a good thing with the Bluetooth is that it will stop if it loses signal (the IR one does not as I have previously discovered).

My approach was to build everything in the tender so it was self-contained and neat. But, one thing that was important to me was not modifying the actual locomotive. By making the tender bigger, I’ve managed to contain everything together very neatly.

– and most exciting, shots of the train running around Studsburg (my Custom LEGO City)

And in case you wonder why/where I got the motor as it’s not available through the LEGO Parts list, it came from my second 60197 train.
