LEGO Crocodile Locomotive Video Review and Powered Up! (10277)

July 11, 2020 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

This is a video review, unboxing and motorization of the new for 2020 LEGO Crocodile Locomotive (10277). I share my thoughts on this new for 2020 LEGO Train

It is based on the Swiss Class Ce 6/8 II locomotive which is designed to pull heavy loads up twisting, steep mountain railways – its basically two big motors and a transformer. The transformer sits in the middle with the engineers and allows it to have more power.

To be clear, this is a workhorse of a train. It doesn’t go fast because it didn’t need to. This really is a case of slow and steady wins the race and the design went on to be used by several other railways.

Watch on to hear my thoughts and see it Powered Up around my LEGO city!

One thing I will say is that after this video, I hit a snag. It started to derail in some situations. It was effectively jumping off due to the front wheels not staying in the track. JangBricks published a video about this along with some tweaks: LEGO Crocodile Locomotive Easy Fixes for gaps & derailing – 10277

I have tried his fixes and it helped a bit, but it wasn’t perfect. I think it needs a bit more weight on the nose. I will keep you posted.

Let me know in the comments below what you think of this fabulous train!

About the LEGO Crocodile Locomotive (10277)

Clear your mind and escape the daily grind with this fulfilling building project. If your passion for toy train sets has never really left you, you’ll love recreating the amazing details of the Crocodile Locomotive, a vintage classic from the golden age of rail travel.

Impressive attention to detail

Inspired by the Class Ce 6/8 II locomotive, first built for the Swiss Federal Railways between 1919 and 1927, this beautiful LEGO® model is packed with realistic details. With side rods that move as the wheels turn and posable pantographs that move up and down, there are lots to explore. Lift the roof to access the crew compartment and use the 2 minifigures to bring the story of this iconic train to life. Add the Powered Up components (sold separately) to motorize your locomotive.

This LEGO® Crocodile Locomotive (10277) model kit is perfect for adults looking to build a vintage locomotive model or for anyone who loves trains and is looking for their next hobby project.
