LEGO City Train 2022 sets revealed – my thoughts

May 4, 2022 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

We finally have the LEGO City Trains for 2022, and I have to say there are definitely some winners and losers here! We have set 60335 which is the new train station – we’ve not had a station for 4 years!. Then 60336 is the freight train and finally, 60337 is the Passenger Train – which seems to take some inspiration from the legendary Horizon Express. In this video, I will give you my thoughts but I’d love to know yours in the comments!

LEGO MOC City Train 60197 | Detailed Passenger & Buffet Cars + Exterior Upgrade

April 23, 2022 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I’ve made a lot of changes to my LEGO City 60197 passenger train, but it’s one of these sets that cries out to be modified. I wanted to make it feel more finished and also worthy of running next to the Horizon Express.

In this upgraded version of the LEGO City Train 60197, everything is lengthened to 28 studs (to match the horizon express). The exterior of all carriages feels more finished and has some little finishing details. And inside the passenger and buffet cars, I’ve added a lot of details that make this feel more like a LEGO Creator set than a city set.

The passenger car now has a bag holder, a drinking fountain and the most important thing, a toilet! Additionally, the seating arrangement has been changed and the dining table modified to fit the space better and give the passengers more space. Oh, and the end of each carriage now has doors.

With the dining car, I always felt the dining car that came with the train was rather lame. It was just a 4 wide counter with a screen. It worked but really was meh. So, I’ve turned it 90 degrees and lengthened it making it feel more like a real train canteen – and that it could service the whole train. Oh, and the end of each carriage now has doors as well.

LEGO car wash for Speed Champions cars! A LEGO City update!

March 19, 2022 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 3 minutes

One of the things I love about the LEGO City 60292 set is that it came with a car wash. But I had 2 problems with it. First, it doesn’t fit Speed Champions cars. Second, it was a bit basic. So here’s how I’ve built my LEGO moc with horizontal brushes, sprays, a dryer that moves with the car. And most importantly, takes Speed Champions cars!

P.S. Don’t worry, I don’t sing Car Wash by Rose Royce in the video, promise. But here’s a link if you want to have it stuck in your head too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v8I5egzoMo

03:03 The new horizontal brush
04:24 Sidewalls
05:05 Vertical dangly brushes
06:41 The front sprays added back in
07:27 A bulky, gravity-driven car dryer
09:26 Roof over your car
11:10 Washing a LEGO Speed Champions Ferrari (so shiny!)
11:30 Wrapping up

========

About this Video:
Why build a working LEGO City Car wash? Honestly, because the engineering in them has always fascinated me from an early age. That, and it’s a lot of fun to see the cars going through.

There were quite a few challenges – not having the right parts being one – such as how and where to level the horizontal brush so it doesn’t hit anything.

That rear dryer took a few versions to get right and make compact (and heavy enough) to make it work in the space. The dryer is connected to a large ventilation fan via a hose. It does look like there’s an issue with the ventilation fan, but luckily the series 22 Robot Repair Tech Minifigure is there working on it!

Then all the little details like the hose and foam sprays at the front. All in all, it was a fun little project that I just had to tackle as it had been sitting on my desk calling to me to “fix” it!

I hope you enjoy it and this will be added to my soon to be updated Intergalactic Car & Spaceship Service Station LEGO City MOC: https://youtu.be/x9GXLj5EPLg
