March 15, 2020 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A couple of things happened in the last few weeks that made me realise that we need to be nice to each other. Especially with all the panic the media is inciting in people about Coronavirus. The LEGO community is a shining example of being nice to each other. And some other ramblings about my LEGO AFOL life.

BUILDING THE 40th ANNIVERSARY LEGO TRAIN (40370) #shorts

March 15, 2020 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

This was a set that demanded something a bit more during the build. So I did one of my old frame by frame builds. Simple, quick and I think a delight to watch! Enjoy!

March 14, 2020 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

This is a review of the March 2020 LEGO gift with purchase from lego.com. It’s the 40th Anniversary Steam Engine which is a modern take on the 1980 LEGO Train, set number 7810. An absolute classic but is it something I’m keen to have in my collection?

Sci-fi Portal Forest Scene LEGO MOC

February 7, 2020 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

This lego moc is inspired by all the movies and games that features portals. I built the gate a while back but never really “completed” the scene. Now I have and I’m really happy with it! The ramp works well, my illegal build control panel works, and the trees are something new for me. Let me know what you think!

========

About this LEGO MOC build
The ramp works well I think. But, making it an odd number of studs was not originally planned but I feel it really added to the look of the build and makes it way more interesting that than being 6 or 4 wide as I’d originally considered.

And if you look at the control panel, it’s done using handcuffs and a wheel clip. Now I’m not sure if that’s a legal or illegal build technique, but I like how it came out!

One other thing in this build is the trees. The one on the left uses some lego techniques I haven’t tried before but figured out based on a couple of examples I found online. I like how it gives them shape and angle that really brings them to life.

Get Away From Her You Grinch! Mech inspired by Aliens, designed for Santa

December 21, 2019 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

This is Santa’s newest tool to help him not only deal with the ever-growing number of presents he has to deliver on Christmas day but also the increase in Grinches! This Mech is the Santa Claws Sleigh Loader 3000. It is part of a LEGO MOC Habitat inspired by the famous Power Loader from Aliens (One of my favourite movies!)

The Santa Claws Sleigh Loader 3000 gets its name from those huge claws like hands that allows the mech to quickly manipulate presents, no matter their size. It came from Santa’s Special Projects Engineering Works and features a 100 Reindeer Cross Pulled One Night Engine. It’s good for a range of work beyond frantically loading Santa’s Sleigh. Rumour has it, it’s even been used to clean out the Reindeer’s sheds in record time – don’t smell your presents too closely!

Featuring an integrated Present wrapping system with a cutting blade and Reindeer Controlling Carrots, this workhorse of a Vehicle can help Santa load up to 3000 presents per hour (hence the name).

I am a life long fan of the Aliens movies and the power loader is one of the many amazing vehicles to come from the Alien franchise. I’ve always wanted to build one out of LEGO and letting Santa have one to help him load his Sleigh seemed only natural!
